Be-YOU-tiful World: Children

Hello all!

This week I wanted to highlight children and how they make this world a more beautiful place every single day.  For some, this statement may seem a little overrated or I may be pushing your limits of belief because how much can a child really do?  The answer: much more than you think.

Each and every day I am astounded by what kids can do.  I don’t know why I am still surprised.  They know that anything is possible and they aren’t afraid to put themselves out there, unlike adults.

One child I like to watch specifically is my sister, Katelyn.  Yes, I am biased towards her but I look at her and wish I could be as ambitious as her.  She has big plans for herself and for the world and she is already trying to put them into action.

She tells me that one day she wants to become a motivational speaker and help inspire people to be the change they want to see in the world.  She is also extremely passionate about making abortion illegal again.  Although she and I are both kind of skeptical about whether or not she (and a team) would ever be able to get that passed, she has written letters to our governor before and I still catch her journaling up plans to stop abortions from happening.

On a more personal level, she is just one of my many rays of sunshine; along with my other sister, Emily, and brother, Daniel, and parents and friends.  She and I have always had a special connection. She will come down to my room when I’m not feeling amazing and she will put a smile on my face.  She begs me to go on adventures all the time and even if it is just to go to Target, she will always tell me how much she appreciates the fact that we can hang out together.

Katelyn isn’t just my sunshine though.  She is a sunshine to everyone she meets.  She is a naturally happy person and she shares it with everyone.  Katelyn is confident in herself.  She knows when people need her to be there and she knows when she should back off and let them breathe.  She will do everything in her power to make you happy.  Kids that are younger than her look up to her and adults look to her and are inspired.

Katelyn is one of the people that embodies what it means to make the world a more beautiful place just by being herself and I love that about her.  I can’t wait to see how much more she does as she grows up.

Until next time my friends,
